As someone who loves exploring local food scenes while traveling, I was excited to check out Hoʻopiʻilani Food Truck Park during my time in Maui—but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The concept is great: a cluster of food trucks offering a variety of cuisines. And yes, if you’re someone who’s feeling a bit fatigued from island food, this could be a spot where you’ll find more familiar, everyday options. That said, the overall experience was underwhelming. When you’re in a place like Maui, you expect bold, fresh, and memorable flavors—but this felt more like food you’d find back home on a regular day, without anything particularly special to justify going out of your way. As a food lover, I always look for places that give you a sense of the destination through their food—and this just didn’t deliver that for me. With so many incredible local restaurants and authentic island spots around, I’d definitely recommend prioritizing those instead. Overall, this is a place you can skip—you’re better off exploring Maui’s local food scene for a much more memorable experience.

Great selection of food truck options from Thai, Italian, Greek (gyros), BBQ, Mexican, Vietnamese and Desserts! This place has a little bit of everything. We went on a few different nights and tried the pork potstickers at the Thai truck, then the pasta and burger at the Italian truck and finished the week with the gyro loaded fries at the Loaded Fries truck. We enjoyed almost everything we got! They park is open from 5pm to 9pm every day, it has picnic tables to sit and enjoy your food there or get it to go and take it with you. There's pretty lights that turn on at dusk too which make the vibe more fun.

We loved this as a “night one” dinner because it was easy, low-pressure, and still felt like a real Maui meal. We grabbed food from different trucks, found a spot to sit, and it was the perfect way to settle into the trip without committing to a long wait or a formal reservation. It also just has that vacation vibe where you can keep things simple and still eat really well. We featured this stop in our YouTube video, search for “Replicate the Magic” on YouTube to find it.

If you stay in the Honoapiilani beach area, you will be able to see the food trucks here. The food truck forms a food court with the feeling of a night market. It would be nice to go out for a dinner to enjoy the atmosphere. It's not that cheap for a food truck. Loco moco is $20, it wasn't delicious. The tepanyaki was $29 and it didn't cost a lot of meat, so I was disappointed. It's a good place to go for a night out, not because the food is good.

I opted for chicken pad Thai and my husband got smash burger and fries from get loaded in paradise. For dessert I got malasadas and he got chocolate ice cream from Aloha sweets. Pad Thai had a really good sauce. Burger and fries were okay. Ice cream was good and malasadas were delicious. Lots of choices. Lots of seating. Because sometimes you just don't want to cook and you just don't want to sit in a restaurant.
